The Dialogue Projects is a social mission that was launched to raise funds for mental health organizations and to create awareness through the sale of Dialogue Bags, a carryall tote designed specifically for this fund. The bags, a heavy weight canvas tote, feature an illustrated elephant on one side. Acting as the company’s symbol, the animal represents the proverbial ‘elephant in the room’. A significant percent of the proceeds from each sale will be implemented into The Dialogue Fund, which will help support mental health organizations. The project’s overall mission is to create products that help fund mental health organizations while simultaneously encouraging the conversation around this topic in the hopes of ending its associated stage.
Ultimately, The Dialogue Project believes that the more we share our experiences with mental illness, the closer we will get to reducing the stigma surrounding it, and eliminating the ‘elephant in the room’. I couldn’t agree more with their mission and so I decided to contribute my voice. Check it out here: Alivia’s Voice.
“Living with a mental illness is hard enough as it is, but the fear of admitting we are suffering and need help is what makes it so much worse. One way that I became comfortable sharing my experience with others was through blogging about it. Once I started doing this, other people began to reach out and open up to me about their own experiences and how they can relate to mine. It has become so clear to me now that too many of us are suffering in silence. So – it’s time to speak up and open the dialogue. The more we talk about mental illness and the daily struggles of life, the more likely we are to inspire others to speak up and get help too. The stigma needs to end.”
